Paleofuturism in general is a hot meme right now. Could be excellent timing.

yeah, I know a few people over here in sidders who might even travel for a steampunk con - especially if there is a fashion tie in.

ActuallI think I'm about 6 months behind on the Meme bandwagon.
If I'd done Night's Edge (Cyberpunk) LAST November and Wasteland II:Age of Iron (Steampunk) THIS November I'd have crested the wave.
Unfortunately the'll be memes on the wane when I get to them.
Still trying to work out what what will be "Hot" after Paleofuturism. I have a suspicion (Looking at what people like Doctorow, Ellis and Stross are talking about) it'll be 30s style Space Opera, complete with Silver Lamé skintight spacesuits.

I think steampunk will still have some legs though, but I do agree, buck rodgers and flash gordon space opera could be the next big meme :)

Indeed. I know at least one designer here (ex Melbourne) who's well keen on steampunk just now.
I wonder if an sf/alt.fashion world joint event would work.

possibly worth looking into. From my perspective the steampunk trend/meme has been fashion driven - I know that is not the case for everyone - but from what I've seen, that is the case.
