MMkay - Interstate promotion?

So, as some of you may or may not know I am running a teeny con later this year. dalekboy suggested that cons over here don't promote themselves over East much.

So, what should I be doing? I have limited resources for time, so I'd like to optomise my "bang for buck".

Suggestions very welcome!

To who? My last call for volunteers got a grand total of one reply. That was for someone willing to do AV.

I like the idea of raffling one off, and if you suggest to the committee that they keep the proceeds, then they will do all the talky talky bits.

It might be too late to organize now, but you never know.

if you want to raffle a membership off, then maybe ask strangedave to organise it for you - he is going to be there, he'll be high profile, he knows all the right people to ask, and he will probably be online between now and the con. You shouldn't need any hardcopy to go to melbourne, which is reasonable. If he asks Mynxii to sell raffle tickets, you'd probably sell lots (especially if she has 'Night's Edge' written on her breasts).

If that doesn't appeal, I'll think some more about who to contact. (Tiki? she's in Melbourne, don't know if she is going to the con. mortonhall has said she needs a quiet weekend, so she might not be the best choice, but she might have some good suggestions. I don't have an email for her here, but could contact her later - if you want me to, send me an email at home, and I'll do that either tonight or in the morning). Justin A might also be persuaded to put raffle tickets on his table, but only if enough advertising is done so that it brings people to look at his books - that I would delegate to mynxii, if she is contactable.

Quiet weekend? I plan to sit in the bar and have people feel sorry for me so they can buy me drinks..

Assuming I don't get any worse that is. I've arranged to have tomorrow off from work so I can rest.

There is an auction on the Saturday where it can be promoted and I can speak to Ms Mitchell about permission to promote it etc. Between various people, I should be able to get it mentioned at nearly every panel.

Just need someone to email some details to me - also how much do you want tickets sold for?

there probably is... is eidolist still around? There's eastcoastsf on yahoogroups and I think there might be one for the MSFC - but I'm not currently a member of any of them so you'll have to get someone else to do that bit :)
