Hey Damian! We should crank up a campaign sometime, for old times sake. I reckon our "Wandered out of Aftermath" characters were still the ultimate match.

Ah, Twilight 2000. Like so many GDW products, the game world was great, the game system sucked. I loved the 2300AD world, but the system was so bad that they had to do a complete redesign.

Ditto for Twilight 2000. Between v1 and v2 they had to close some godawful loopholes.

The biggest loophole was still the "We are the Army! We have discipline!" world though. As referenced in the original post, we dropped a pair of "Aftermath" characters into the world and it was like introducing feral cats to Australia. The "natives" just could not compete.

We were a coupla good ole boys from 'Bama. Spent too much time in th' hills reading guns'n'ammo an them thar survival manuals and we decided we wus gonna survive this gurdamned war.

Riding stolen Polish cavalry horses (Tough, don't rear when under gunfire. 10 x list price and a BARGAIN. Pulled that 'un over the GMs eyes) with an RPG7 in one saddlebag and a couple of rockets in the other. M16 in the saddle holster and a compound bow across the shoulders.

We'd got it detailed down to that we deliberately wore camo made up of pieces of multiple nationalities and that our country markers and rank was sewn on loosely, so we could remove them with a good hard tug. Voila! Instant neutrality.

Other useful equipment included a basic reloader kit, $750 of Cocaine and $750 of gold wire. We figured USD probably weren't worth saving as dunny paper.

When order finally broke down around Kalisz, we left the rest of the party in disarray, trying to get their Hummvee roadworthy enough while we slipped between the polish pincer movement.

It was about this point the GM gave up, as 4 of his six players had been wiped out by heavy Soviet armour and the other two were effectively deserters. Well armed, fast moving, well camouflaged deserters, with plenty of readily tradeable materials.

Ahh great days, great days.

Ah, white phosphorous grenades, guaranteed to break the ice at any party!

But DON'T (I repeat DON'T) strap them to the OUTSIDE of your tank. Ther do not make for good armour.

For a moment there I thought it was going to be Aftermath!
