Apparently Rats and Ferrets can be both trained to drag drawstrings for fibre networking.

Fibre optic is so light that you don't need a heavy drawstring, thus not overloading the critters.

Or you could build a robot to do your bidding

Ok, but given rat's usual habits you'll need to put the router under the couch or behind the oven

You also have to teach the little buggers not to eat network cable...

Falling asleep on the warm modem/router/switch is OK.. But can you PLEASE STOP EATING MY CABLES!

(I know it tastes sweet... I used to chew pens)

Hmm, so you can train ferrets and rats to run inside pipes... now who'd a thunk it?
*grin*

On a less flippant note, the actual problem with the ferrets would be getting them to come out of the end of the pipe at the far end when they'd much rather stay in there with their nose sticking out the end wagging their tail maniacally because it's fun running inside a pipe!

The other downside is that you'd never get a full working day out of a ferret because they like to sleep so much, and when they are away you just want to play with them. Maybe a whole team of ferrets then... don't forget your bicycle clips!

Hm, I think I'd have to have a long discussion with my rats about why they should do this and why go in there when over here is more fun and hang on, why don't I take this home for a late snack?

They have issues with short and long-term memory :-)
