This is a list of ign.com's top 100 games - not particularly authoritive, but, hey, it's a list. It's from 2005, but I'm a classicist and am fully prepared to believe that no good new games have come out in the last three years except Lego Star Wars, which I'm giving an honororay "5a" position.

River City Ransom was called Street Gangs in Australia. It's a NES game. And bloody good too - it's 50% scrolling beat'em'up, 50% sushi restaurant customer simulation.
