I was wikiwandering today when I cam across the following:

During the late-1990s, Kamov and Israeli Air Industries developed a tandem-seat cockpit version, the Kamov Ka-50-2 Erdogan (Turkish for "Born Warrior"), to compete in Turkey's attack helicopter competition.

So let me get this straight.

A Russian company designs a variant of a Soviet Airforce "Tankbuster" helicopter in conjunction with an Israeli aerospace company for a competition to provide Turkey with armaments.

In 1988, that would have been unimaginable...

Sigh!

Ok, gotta admit that's kinda cool.

Doesn't surprise me. The Russians pretty much will sell their designs to anyone with money or oil, and the Israelis will steal anyones designs if they can build it.

The Russians do arguably design better attack helo's than the Americans for desert combat regions - but what is amusing is they lost the competition to a reworked 1960s Huey Cobra.
