Okay, a question for y'all.

I want to know your (up to) 10 "Must have" Goth/Industrial Albums and why everyone should have it.

Feel free to contribute JUST ONE that you are passionate about, or go for the full 10 in you are enthusiastic.

I'll post mine into the comments as well, just to get started.

C'mon WHY would you recommend these to people? Are they insanely danceable? Hugely groundbreaking? Scary? Wierd?

WHY PEOPLE! WHY?

(There is a reason behind all this)

If you want danceable put on some trance, techno, breaks, or house that's what I do - don't fool yourself, industrial is meant to be difficult art.

Kids today are so boring. *Shakes cane*

I think you misunderstand me.

What makes each of these albums "Special"?

Why should everybody own a copy of each of these albums?

(Have a look at my "album choices" for what I'm trying to get at.)

OK you want to "Why" now.

Tactical Neural Implant - Front Line Assembly
The first cyberpunk album back when the term was not highly embarassing. Excellent layered electronics and rhythms. FLA's best work.

Bunkertor 7 - :wumpscut:
There was Leatherstrip, then there was :w:. Dark hard teutonic industrial that just screamed bombed out Victorian era factory standing on a wasteland at dusk. Harsh and filty synths surrounded with bleak textures.

Rabies - Skinny Puppy
Skinny Puppy with Mr Ministry Al Jourgenson sitting in. Fascist Jock Itch is an intense moment of industrial speed. Warlock is pure stark electronic moods. It showed us where Al would be taking his own work - see Psalm 69.

First, Last & Always - Sisters of Mercy
The best and the only Sisters Album; the rest is just Eldritch. Black Planet is an all time classic goth rock track. Put on a candle, wear your best blacks, roll some rough cut tobacco, and drink large amounts of red wine while you bitch about all that you love.

The Sky's Gone Out - Bauhaus
Brian Eno meets Bauhaus. Yes, this is the most competent of their releases. Third Uncle is a classic.

Acid Bath - Alien Sex Fiend
For me it was my first ASF purchase. More dynamic in musical territory then their previous 2 releases. The real goth udnerground scene of drugs and stupidity pressed into 45mins of vinyl.

Front by Front - Front 242
F242 started as an graphic and music project in 1981 by 2 creative Belgians. This is the release that has Headhunter on it. 'nuff said!

Scraping Foetus off the Wheel - Foetus/J.Thirlwell
Australian production loony makes songs about surfing with satan and washing lines - all mixed in with themes usually found in mental health hospitals. A Gem.

Solutions for a Small Planet - haujobb
Beginning of the more refined industrial movement. Lot's of creative bleeps and blurps. More about technical production and expanding the pallete available to electro artists.

Leichenschrei - Sozialistisches Patienten Kollektiv
SPK are an industrial band - Velvet Acid Christ, Funker Vogt, Combi Christ etc ad nauseum ARE NOT INDUSTRIAL! Listen to this album and see why I say that. SPK are Australians, and bloody weird too.

Wow! I forgot about Skinny Puppy. The Faint, ohgr and Mindless Self Indulgence are pretty awsome, too.
